Approximately 2000 American colleges and universities offer athletic opportunities to talented student-athletes from the U.S.A and other countries.

Due to lack of knowledge of the recruiting process and lack of exposure, hundreds of superior athletes are overlooked every year. The reality is that most parents and students have limited experience in this process and they are not sure how it can happen for them.

Most parents will want to do the very best for their sons and daughters of course, and some will even try to do it entirely on their own. Very few will succeed.

At CPOA, we’re passionate about helping students achieve their goals, be it through athletics, academics, or both! Since 1986, CPOA has helped thousands of families from the US and around the world find the right athletic, academic, and financial opportunity at colleges and universities in the United States.

As the most respected full-service college placement company in the world for high school students and athletes, our mission is to help students and athletes find the best education at the best possible price, while allowing them to continue to participate in a sport they love or pursue an academic area of interest they are passionate about.

Our clients are not just names on a website- we are committed to their success and take a personal interest in their future.

Colleges and college coaches receive thousands of emails every year. With thousands of students from all over the world having access to the same information over the Internet, universities and college coaches simply do not have the time to review all of these unsolicited messages .

By using a college placement service, you allow a professional organization with resources, systems, and experience to perform the college search for you. It can be very daunting and time-consuming task without help, ultimately leaving you frustrated and without options!

The reality is that the college process is confusing, and most families will only do it once or twice in their lifetime. Relying on guidance from a professional organization that has advised hundreds of other families like yours in the process makes things much less confusing, less stressful, and ultimately makes you more successful!

Mistake: A company or an individual can guarantee they’ll help you receive a scholarship.

Reality: It is against NCAA rules for a person or a company to guarantee a scholarship in exchange for representing a student-athlete. This action is dishonest and may make you ineligible to compete at a university.

Mistake: Depend on people who say they have "contacts."

Reality: Many people, including high school coaches, have contacts. Perhaps they know a few college coaches, but “a few” isn’t enough. It is critical to understand how important it is to receive maximum exposure during the recruiting process.

Mistake: Believing that an “intermediary” will handle all of the work in securing an opportunity from a university.

Reality: Frequently, individuals or companies that claim to assist in this manner do not put the prospect in direct contact with the university. This is an ineffective approach because universities need to be in direct contact with you.

Mistake: The student and his or her parents are amateurs in the business of college recruiting, while the college coaches and financial aid personnel are experienced professionals.

Reality: Higher education is big business in America. A lot of money changes hands and a marvelous product is offered. Because of its high value and high cost, comparative shopping and careful decision making are essential.

Other Common Mistakes:

Mistake: They wait until it is too late.

Mistake: They limit their search to a narrow geographic area or to places others have attended or told them about.

Mistake: They think that because a few colleges have sent catalogs or letters of inquiry they have enough schools on their radar.

Mistake: They fail to realize that the window of opportunity is usually open for only a short period of time between the middle of the Junior year and March 1 of the Senior year and then it closes, in most cases, forever.

The cost of an education in the United States can be as much as $40,000 to $60,000+ dollars per year without any financial assistance, including the cost of tuition, room and board, books, and additional college expenses.

Families that use our program can significantly reduce the cost of a US education by way of guidance and maximum exposure to different university options. This can lead to finding comparable schools at a lower cost, negotiating with different options a better price, receiving of financial packages they might not have known about previously, and for others, receiving of an athletic or academic scholarship.

In the case of International Students, many of the student-athletes that use our program from other parts of the world, receive opportunities in the United States for less than $10,000 to $20,000 dollars a year, including tuition, room and board*.

The amounts mentioned include room and board, tuition, and other basic college costs. Depending on the student's athletic and academic profile, there are families that pay less than $10,000 dollars per year, and others that pay over $20,000 dollars per year. Generally speaking, the higher the athletic and academic achievements of a student, the less they are likely to pay for an education in the US.

  • The NCAA does not allow any individual or company to guarantee a scholarship. The NCAA says, “A prospective student-athlete may allow a scouting service or agent to distribute personal information to member institutions without jeopardizing his or her eligibility, provided the fee paid to such an agent is not based on placing the prospective student-athlete in a collegiate institution as a recipient of institutional financial aid.”
  • What CPOA does guarantee; however, is that we will provide our clients with excellent customer service and a proven plan that will get them noticed by more college coaches. By following the expert counseling provided by CPOA, a student-athlete can dramatically improve their chances of success!
  • Furthermore, CPOA has a strict policy of only accepting student-athletes who have a realistic chance of competing in college. Due to this strict selection process, virtually all of the student-athletes we accept into our program have the opportunity to compete in college.
  • To have the most success in the CPOA program, it is important that the prospect and parents have realistic expectations based on the student’s academic and athletic ability, and that the family begin this process one and up to three years before the students high school graduation.
  • Investing in the CPOA program is one of the best decisions parents can make considering our history of real results with thousands of families in almost 30 years.
